CosmoCom Expands SIP Interoperability  

CosmoCall Universe Supports Growing List of SIP Devices  

MELVILLE, NY, December 2, 2002 — CosmoCom, Inc., the leading provider of IP-based contact center on-demand technology, today announced expanded interoperability of its contact center platform, CosmoCall Universe, with technologies based on Session Initiation Protocol (SIP).

CosmoCom’s SIP program, initiated in 2001, now includes support for a wider range of SIP-based devices. CosmoCom has achieved this level of interoperability through lab testing with VoIP infrastructure partners, field trials with selected customers and participation in the recent SIPit (SIP Interoperability Test) event at the VON (Voice On the Net) conference. At SIPit, CosmoCall Universe was able to successfully integrate with over a dozen other SIP-enabled technologies, including industry standard gateways, SIP phones (hard and soft), SIP proxy servers and SIP conference servers.

SIP and Contact Center On-Demand

SIP is widely being adopted as the signaling standard of choice in today’s emerging IP-enabled telephone networks. As telcos continue to deploy revenue generating IP-based Contact Center On-Demand services to their portfolio of value-added, network-hosted offerings, the need for SIP is clear. SIP is generally viewed as more scalable, more robust and more flexible than the older H.323 standard.
