Complete interoperability testing of intelligent routing and Network-Based Contact Center solutions for use in new packet-based telecommunications networks
MELVILLE, NY - April 9, 2002 - CosmoCom, Inc. today announced that it is working with Sonus Networks (Nasdaq: SONS) to provide network operators with contact center applications for use in IP-based Next Generation Networks. The applications include intelligent pre-routing features historically deployed as part of circuit-based Intelligent Networks (IN), as well as a completely hosted Automatic Call Distribution (ACD) application providing capabilities that are unmatched by offerings in the traditional circuit-based telephone networks.
CosmoCom has successfully completed interoperability testing between its CosmoCall Universe™ IP-based call center platform and Sonus Networks' voice infrastructure solutions. Through this testing, CosmoCom has now achieved 'Powered' status in Sonus' Open Services Partner AllianceSM (OSPA) program.
"IP is the future of the public telephone network, and network operators are deploying this infrastructure today," said Steve Kowarsky, executive vice president of CosmoCom. "Network operators need to provide customers with both the Intelligent Network features of the old circuit telephone network, as well as new high-margin applications such as hosted contact centers. These services bring in new revenue while simultaneously building customer loyalty. We are proud to be partnering with Sonus Networks, an acknowledged leader in packet voice infrastructure products, in bringing these solutions to the market."
The pre-routing features in the Intelligent Network evolved to help reduce caller wait time for agents and improve agent efficiency. If a particular call center is overly busy, for example, calls can be automatically routed to appropriate agents in another call center. To offer these services in legacy circuit-switched telephone networks, these pre-routing services require a series of circuit switches, service control points (SCPs) and network-based Interactive Voice Response (IVR) platforms.
The combination of Sonus Networks packet voice infrastructure products and CosmoCom's Next Generation Intelligent Network (NGIN) pre-routing offering enables network operators to provide services on their packet-based IP voice networks that meet and exceed the feature set provided on today's circuit networks.
In addition to the NGIN pre-routing features, the solutions delivered by CosmoCom and Sonus provide a fully hosted contact center application for converged voice/data networks. This enables network operators to offer a very high-value, high-margin, multi-media ACD service to their customer base.
"Our telco customers are seeking value-added applications to deploy on their new public network infrastructure," said Terri Griffin, vice president, marketing, Sonus Networks. "The combination of the Sonus infrastructure products with the CosmoCall Universe application suite enables our customers to offer a rich set of Contact Center features that enhances the value of the carriers' toll-free service offerings."
