VoIP Solutions and Services

A Plethora of Turnkey Products and Services Make Using the 'Net for Voice Easy for Businesses at Every Scale

by John Jainschigg

Workable consumer-level VoIP based marketing (using web-enabled call center products) is ready to pop.  The results will be explosive.  Here are some products you may want to buy real soon.

COSMOCOM

CosmoCom (Hauppauge, NY – 631-851-0100, www.cosmocom.com) makes a slick web-enabled call center solution ideal for small- to medium-sized companies running "high touch" e-commerce or multiple campaigns that include a web component. It completely replaces the conventional ACD with a set of servers attached to LAN’d PC workstations equipped with NetMeeting and browsers. A Dialogic-powered telephony interface brings in regular phone calls and transports them across the LAN to agents (via NetMeeting). Web-surfing callers can send email to the center (queued like regular calls for fast response), request text-chat sessions via pure-HTML (i.e., firewall-transparent) pages, or (if they have Net Meeting and aren’t trapped behind a firewall) use VoIP to talk with agents. We’ve seen all of it work, and we’re impressed.

The above is an excerpt from the article "VoIP Solutions and Services " which appears in the April 1999 issue of IP Telephony, a special supplement to Computer Telephony, Teleconnect and Call Center Magazines.
