Madritel to Use CosmoCom/Siemens Product For CC

Madritel Communicaciones S.A., a Madrid based cable operator, announced that it is planning to provide real time Internet based customer care to its cable subscribers via a combination of CosmoCom's flagship IP call center software, CosmoCall Universe, and Siemens Activy set-top boxes. The solution will enable subscribers to access customer care services directly from TV sets.

CosmoCall Universe converts all incoming communications into IP packets. It is capable of integrating IP based telephone communications into a web site or network-based application using an IP based ACD to enable customers to reach the proper customer service agent. The multi-server system can handle up to 8,000 agents, supporting up to 50,000 simultaneous calls/messages and 200 call arrivals per second. It features H.323 interoperability for VoIP calls, E1 and Euro ISDN interfaces as well as support for IVR systems. It also implements MSMQ technologies for communications transport and security, and HTTPS and SSL for secure caller data communications.

The Activy product is a multifunctional, interactive media box that can receive an array of multimedia information including audio, video, data, programs and documents, which can be viewed via traditional TV sets. It can also support email, Internet access and home banking capabilities.

CosmoCom & Siemens plan to begin offering the interactive, television based customer service system on a commercial basis by next summer.

Madritel's 725 Km long cable system provides service to more than 200,000 homes throughout Alcobendas, Alcala de Henares, Madrid and Mostoles y Leganes. The company is planning to expand the network into Alcorcon, Getafe, Coslada and San Sebastian de los Reyes as soon as possible.
