CosmoCom raises $15 million in third round of financing

CosmoCom, the developer of IP web-enabled call center software, has raised $15.3 million in its third round of financing.

The investment was led by CosmoCom's newest reseller/partner, SAIC (Science Applications International Corp), the employee-owned high-tech research and engineering firm in the US. Other investors include IDB Holding Corp, Long Island Venture Fund and Wheatley Partners.

CosmoCom develops web call centre solutions that enable text-based chat, voice, video, voicemail, email and fax over the Internet in one software-based virtual contact center.

Some of the major customers of CosmoCom include Sonera (formerly Telecom Finland), Swissbroker.com, Gulfdiscount.com, and Columbia University.

Although the main interface of the CosmoCom call center solution is the Web, callers can also originate calls over standard telephone. "No matter how popular the PC gets, the phone is not going away soon," says Lisa Dicksteen, Manager Public Relations at CosmoCom.

According to CosmoCom this is the last financing it will need prior to its planned IPO in 2000. The company staff comprises of 60 employees.
