BELLEVUE, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 25, 2000-- Onyx Software Corporation (Nasdaq:ONXS - news) today announced the general availability of Onyx Employee Portal 2.0, the flagship product in the Onyx 2000 suite.
Onyx Employee Portal incorporates an extremely lightweight Web-based architecture for optimal performance and reduced management overhead in hosted environments as well as internal deployments. The 100% Web-based Onyx Employee Portal allows a company to gather, integrate and share customer information with anyone in their extended organization, maximizing the efficiency of their marketing, sales, and service teams. This second generation of Onyx Employee Portal, along with Onyx Customer Portal and Onyx Partner Portal, completes the Onyx 2000 suite of enterprise-wide customer-centric e-business solutions.
``Onyx has just set a new standard for bringing the power of Internet technology into the front office,'' said Brent Frei, Onyx Software president and CEO. ``We believe our 100% Web-based product is unmatched in the industry. Our lightweight Web client delivers enterprise-wide customer relationship management functionality, integrated Internet content, and third-party applications in a single and personalized Web interface. It's fast, scalable, and contains all the data and features needed by marketing, sales, and service teams. Now anyone with access to a Web browser can access the customer data they need, at any time, from anywhere in the world.''
Customizable Interface, Personalizable Content
Onyx Employee Portal is a Web-based lightweight client that offers customers true, enterprise-wide e-business functionality. It uses personalized navigation menus, interface customization, and function-specific screen design to give work teams and end users a personalized workplace with access to only the specific information and applications they need. Employees can search the Internet for information about customers with one-click ease, and external applications can be accessed without ever leaving the Onyx Employee Portal.
``We're very excited about implementing Onyx Employee Portal as the cornerstone of our customer-centric strategy,'' said Doug Clawson, NetUPDATE Chief Technology Officer. ``As an ASP developing our products specifically for the Web, we need a thin-client solution that will give us the maximum opportunity to serve our customers better than our competition. Onyx has delivered a pure-Web solution that provides enterprise-wide functionality. Our users can personalize their Onyx portal by pulling performance metrics and relevant Internet content directly into the portal interface framework, and be much more productive and better informed about customers than they would have been before Onyx.''
Onyx Employee Portal ships with integrated Internet content that gives users instant access to corporate profiles, market research, competitive research, sales coaching, professional journals and organizations, stock quotes, maps, weather, news, and other information they need on a daily basis. This content is provided through partnerships with companies like Go2Net, zapdata.com, markette.com and their branded sites including salesguy.com Microsoft, Miller-Heiman, OneSource, Selling Power.com, Supportindustry.com, and 16 country-specific versions of Yahoo!
Onyx Employee Portal users also have seamless access to third-party applications they need on a daily basis including productivity tools, Web collaboration, Web presentations, pricing, configuration, commissions, ERP, problem-resolution, knowledge bases, expense reporting and more. Onyx delivers this functionality through application partnerships with several companies including WebEx, Captura, Expensable.com, FirstLogic, Primus, Instinctive Technology, Microsoft and Trilogy. Partners for multi-channel customer interactions include Apropos, Banter, CosmoCom, eShare Technologies, Genesys Tel. Lab, RightNow and Servicesoft.
Architecture and Scalability -- Engineered for One-to-Thousands
Onyx Employee Portal uses Internet-standard technologies to reach a new level of performance and reliability in enterprise-class Web applications. In addition to building Onyx Employee Portal using Internet-standard technology, including Active Server Pages, JavaScript, and XML, the entire application can be customized using simple text or HTML editors, giving customers the ability to tailor interfaces to their business needs quickly and inexpensively. With its lightweight client architecture, IT staffs no longer have to maintain powerful client workstations supporting thick, Windows-based applications. Tuning the system for greater performance is done by upgrading Web servers rather than hundreds or thousands of client desktop workstations. And installing the Employee Portal is as simple as e-mailing a URL to users.
``Onyx Employee Portal has been designed for the optimal speed, personalization and scalability the Web demands,'' said Kevin Schwartz, application hosting director of Breakaway Solutions (Nasdaq:BWAY - news), a Full Service Provider (FSP) of e-business solutions to growing enterprises. ``It is critical for Breakaway Solutions to offer our customers visionary applications that actually work in both a hosted and internally-implemented environment, and we're excited to work with Onyx in delivering this next-generation product through our eCoShare Instant Enterprise platform.''
Generally Available through Onyx, Onyx VARs, and Onyx ASPs
Onyx Employee Portal 2.0 is available today through Onyx Software's direct sales force, its value added resellers, and as hosted solutions offered through the company's Application Service Provider (ASP) partners.
