GateLinx Uses CosmoCom to Support In-Store Kiosks

DIRECT Newsline, Apr 6 2001

GateLinx, a provider of Internet-based kiosk systems, will use Melville, NY-based CosmoCom Inc.’s CosmoCall Universe to support its retail-based kiosks.

Consumers will be able to walk into a retail store and order services such as DirectTV, Sprint PCS, ADT Home Security or MSN Internet via GateLinx’s kiosks. When customers require assistance, they will be able to access on-line, real-time customer support using CosmoCall Universe as the core on-line customer support engine. ComPort systems will be located in Radioshack and Blockbuster Video stores, among other locations.

"Over 80 percent of consumers who initiate an e-commerce ordering process fail to complete the transaction," said Barrett Powell, vice president of business development at Raleigh, NC-based GateLinx.

Powell continued, "Without live one-on-one sales assistance, customers become frustrated and give up. Self-service alone is not enough - customers also need to talk with someone."
